The Alchemist, the Siren, & the Thief by Mia Dorsch – A review

Simple chemistry, modern alchemy.

Such knowledge is power. And forbidden.

Upon discovering the alchemist’s daughter, Alouette, a group of plunderers force her to walk the plank. Saved by the mysterious Captain Atlas DeLuca and his mischievous boatswain, she’s pulled along for a heist in order to steal a crown. Much more than what they bargained for, the three partake in a journey of unraveling the tapestry of lies between a captain’s crew and the secrecy of his kingdom.

Review:

First, I loved the title. There’s an alchemist, a siren, and a thief. How intriguing, right?
Next, I’ll ask you to find the character names from here. It’s okay if you don’t, cause, I’ll be talking about them. The image is from the writer’s Instagram @z._.meow1 ; just check it out once! I made a calligram of the image with the book title and character names.

Can you find the three names at once?

So back to the review now!

Alouette is our alchemist, and I love her. She meets Atlas and Edwin who save her. And together they plan a heist to steal the crown. Now, we slowly learn why the crown had to be stolen and how they did later!

But yes, the relationship between Atlas, our siren, and Alouette begins and it was like a rollercoaster. I wanted to hit Atlas but I couldn’t. Who made me love him, right?

Just as I read half of the book, it became the best. Plot twists, new characters, and fights, yes, they had to save themselves. It was just so awesome. It felt amazing when I read.

Again, there are three POVs, and reading it wasn’t abrupt at all. It didn’t feel like I was switching between characters, at all. That’s the wonder of this book. You read and you don’t find the passage of time because you are so involved with the characters.

A feel-good book, like you feel good about the story and smile with them.
The ending definitely makes you smile.

Now where do I start about how much I loved the characters? I love them. The plot is so cool. I was really interested in the developments and wow, they were awesome. An awesome pirate and a really awesome alchemist with lovable thief. Perfect fantasy book adventure!
And even when there are three POVs, you will be perfectly fine with the pacing of the plot. The writer did a really awesome job. I never thought I would love this book so much!
