Daughter of Ash and Myth – ARC Review

They say heroes are forged in fire…. Jessa Whitley is about to burn.
Jessa thought finishing junior year would be tough. Dodging her ex and surviving finals was enough to handle. But finding out she’s Hercules reincarnate? The gods clearly had other plans. Now her ancient soul is back in the mortal realm with one colossal kick demon ass and maintain the fragile balance between gods and mortals… all while needing an inhaler to breathe at every jump scare.
The god of Death is hunting her, the gates of Hell are wide open, and chaos is ripping through the mortal world. Forget training, Jessa’s life is a crash course in survival. Balancing her Herculean destiny with a “normal” life? Not a chance. Then there’s Paul, a maddeningly protective god whose presence sets her nerves (and her heart) on edge. Their undeniable attraction only deepens the tension, pulling Jessa into a web of secrets she’s not sure she’s ready to unravel.
As the apocalypse ignites, Jessa must decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice. Embrace her mythic legacy? Or risk losing everyone she loves as the world burns to ash?

REVIEW:
This one has elements of Greek Mythology. There are gods, demigods, and their battles. Seems great, right? But this is about Jessa, a young adult, maybe an older teenager is correct, so you can guess what kinds of issues she faces.
Her break-up messed up with her and her budding feelings for Paul( I’m Not telling his real identity 😉 haha) make her really hurt. Most of the time, she is battling with emotions like guilt, pain, confusion, and intermittent fear. Because she is the last surviving demigod and a guardian, she has to learn how to fight and all but no one is telling her the real truth. It was confusing and irritating for her as a person experiencing and for me as a reader, haha.
That aside, the writing is good. Reading and finding out stuff with Jessa was nice. The ending is satisfying. I am not revealing any spoilers but there are so many gods battling here and there’s reincarnation and forbidden romance too. So many great tropes and the story still seems new. As a reader, I liked that.
The vibe of the first chapter, though, it was awesome. I would love it if all the chapters had the memory erasing stuff, haha.
As the first book in the saga, this is really like a milestone, you stand there and experience the first part of Jessa’s journey- her enlightenment about her powers, next let’s see how she manages everything in the second book.
And one more thing, it releases on February 25, 2025. Do read this book. It’s a fun read!

Daughter of Ash and Myth by C. C. S. JonesMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was emotional and yet packed with action. There are fights, superpowers, and mythical elements. Relatable feeling with the emotional development of the characters, it was a really good read. At first, I found the writing really great because the scenes were so awesome. Then I liked the plot twists, and they were not at all expected, one more reason for getting captivated.
I’m looking forward to reading book 2! Just can’t wait!

Anyway, what have you been reading? New book or new book series? I have been crocheting. I made a reversible flower doll and now I’m making a phone bag. I keep sharing pictures and videos of those. And yes, we harvested 1kg of potatoes too in our terrace garden. Awesome, right?
Keep Smiling!
